I am not able to comment or give advice as to laws in other states because I am licensed only in Florida. When looking for an attorney, a referral from a friend, neighbor, etc. is always best and/or a referral from an attorney in another area of practice. Another option would be to ask the lawyer that drafted the prenuptial agreement for the names of three attorneys he/she recommends. Best of luck to you!

How much of this advice would you say applies to prenup agreements in other states? I want to make sure I am doing this right before I sign. Do you have any good tips on finding a lawyer who has expertise in these kinds of things?

Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment, Steve. There are several variables that might allow you to attack the prenup based on assets, debts, or other financially related points. If you're near Jacksonville, we do offer free consultations. Please call us at 904.306.9926 to setup a time that's convenient for you.
Thanks and enjoy your day,
